NEWS: Life in a Day – The film (Or what I’ve been up to!)
Since a lot of you have been asking what I have been up to, and why the blog is quiet, I thought with the release of this video it was about time to let you all know. I have been working on the Life In A Day project, by Youtube in association with Ridley Scott (Producer) and Kevin MacDonald (Director).
I have been helping the Production Team, making sure our team of loggers could do their job properly and taking part in the logging myself. And I will be there until the end of this month. Here is a video about the behind the scenes (with Time-Lapse by excellent Photographer – his videos will be back on within a few days):

Like a lot of photographers, I have been looking into the convergence of photography and video. I am the proud owner of a Canon 5D MkII which shoots 1080p HD footage and it was about time for me to get it tested in a real situation.
The whole clip is shot with two 5Ds – one on a 24-70mm for the wide shots (by Odi) and the other on a mix of 50mm f/1.8 and 85mm. Each take was filmed from 2 angles at once. We had a bare bulb hanging from a “rope” moving left and right to get that unsettling feeling. The Night shots were done afterward by Odi, from a car and then integrated at editing time. As far as I am aware, only very little post since it looks quite close to the original footage.
