Every once in a while, as a photographer, you get an opportunity to express your creativity to the full, for a person who trusts you fully. This is the best feeling in the world, and I wish that every single assignment was like that.
Back in January, when the weather was still much colder than now, we came up with the concept for this. Kevin needed to create a single image of him that would then be used on his new website. We had 90mins together in the streets of Bricklane. The shoot went smoothly and we went, on the fly, through about 5 or 6 setups. Good communication all along. And we effectively worked together to create the one image that would fit the brief.

Photoshoot: TY This shoot is for this exciting project I got involved in some time ago called Beatnik Online Magazine. TY being such a huge inspiration for our Editor, Ali, it was a little bit of a big deal. I mean, we really wanted to get it right. We knew the concept was good, and although the location fell through at the last minute, Ali found the best replacement.
BACKGROUND: “Massive artist, mercury nominated – few uk rappers have such a influence on UK Black music. Plus he is one of my favourite artists so the piece is close to my heart. Listen to the Album ‘Special Kind of Fool’ .and a couple of extra tracks from previous albums. he has worked with De la soul, Arrested Development amongst others.”

CONCEPT: Intimate.. drinking tea… sitting at table of a typically English cafe. Maybe eating a platter of Sausage and Mash. Some candids and a couple of photos of the interview.
News: BEATNIK Online Magazine: “Housing New Music”
Like any creative, I constantly look for more ways to broaden my horizons and fine tune my skills on the job. It’s not that I am not satisfied with where I am since I’ve never been as busy before. It’s just that lately the Photography market has been dictating what I’d be shooting.
So I joined Beatnik Online, a wonderful adventure to me, a place where I am free to express my creativity and explore new ways of portraying people on the music scene. The team is young and motivated, passionate and very simply put: Extremely good at what they do!
And guess what: IT IS OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED!!

I’ll be promoting a project put together by Jeremy Cowart called Help-portrait. The idea being to find people/charities that could do with free quality portrait and give them the photos for free. Interview: Akon for Blues And Soul Magazine
I am pleased to see my photos up on Blues and Soul Magazine’s website from the interview we had with Akon. It’s been a few weeks I was waiting for them to appear on the site so I could proudly post it on my blog too! And the time has come!
He was all smile and really friendly when we arrived with Pete Lewis, the journalist. The interview went smoothly and I shot a few frames then. And at the end, I had the chance to spend 5 mins for a portrait session one to one. I asked him to sit by the window, his body turned to the side, and to turn his face towards me.
