I’m starting off this week end with a little video of BeatnikOnline.net‘s coverage of the Soundwave Croatia festival last year to make up for the fact that I couldn’t go this year, and it’s happening right now, as we speak! My photos are all over the program (although I still haven’t seen it) – and if you’re not there, well, you’re square!

This year I went to Petricane, Croatia with the Beatnik Crew to cover the Soundwave festival 2010. As you can imagine, it was really really hard to be by the adriatic sea, under the sun, in my swimsuit, working away… But I promise I DID manage to have a good time! ahah.

I am lucky cause I know her tour manager personally and had a chance to go backstage to congratulate the diva after her show. She explained how difficult the whole day was. From travel arrangements to sound check, everything went wrong. Despite all of that, she kept smiling, and sang her heart out on stage. She invited a lucky fan on stage and danced with him.

All in all a pretty good show I think. And definitely an artist worth checking out.

Just a quick post to say I took on a full time job for the next few weeks to work on a very exciting project called Life in a Day, by Ridley Scott and Youtube. Check it out and submit your footage in the channel! It’s gonna be an amazing and historical film! More on that subject in a little bit…

And I promise i will start updating the blog more regularly once this finishes. We have a couple of short films in the hood, a few gigs and weddings, a few photoshoots and a couple of festivals as well. A busy July and August!

So, here I am, in the sound booth, 150m away from the stage, trying to get some of the action in the frame. I had brought my canon 350D along with my main body (5D Mk II) because the sensor being smaller, it would turn my 70-200mm into a 105-320mm! It’s still not enough, but it’s a little better. I still shot some wider frames with the 5D at full size (21Mpx) knowing that I will crop a 350px square out of that for the magazine – this is the format of the site. That way, I managed to get shots both for the magazine and my own portfolio.

Anyway, it was another difficult one. Shooting a gig with the wrong gear doesn’t help. But it allowed me to approach it differently, and i learned a lot. Now onto the photos.
